I began my art career as a watercolorist specializing in house portrait commissions. I have completed hundreds of paintings over the past 25 years.
My love for flowers led me to begin using them as subjects for my watercolor compositions. As a gardener, I was intrigued with their endless varieties of colors, textures and shapes. As an artist I appreciated the power flowers have to evoke strong emotions with their vibrancy, grandeur, lushness, beauty, delicacy,
Eventually I wanted to work in a larger format and began using acrylics and oil. I enlarge images and crop them to give them impact and immediacy. I begin my paintings on a dark background in order to establish a sharp contrast and to give more import to the negative space. I love to use riotous colors and to capture the lilting gesture of the flowers to create a buoyant, dancing effect. My goal is to create a positive, exuberant mood
I returned to Ursuline College as an adult and graduated with an art degree. I have taken additional classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art,Orange Art Center,and with individual artists.
I have exhibited at the Grinning Bird Gallery, Blue Moon Gallery, Alan Gallery, Wasmer Gallery,Tri-C, Gesu, the Intown Club, South Wing Gallery at St. Paul's Church and Art Space at the Beachwood Community Center.
I have had solo shows at the Beachwood Library, Guren Gallery at the Botanical Garden, and will open at the Howson Gallery at Judson Park July 31st.
